  • Why do most conical horn antenna datasheets show simulated antenna patterns instead of measured antenna patterns?

Measuring antenna pattern and gain accurately is often a challenge. It is not only due to the demand of expensive test equipment, but also the requirement of skilled and knowledgeable workers. In addition, even for simple conical horn antennas, this increases lead time of the product. We have conducted a study showing that today's mature EM solvers produce accurate simulated data. Coupled with the use of modern manufacturing tools, such as CNC machine centers, wire EDM, EDM Sinkers, and 3D printers, we can realize the simulated antenna with very little inaccuracy.

  • Do you offer conical horn antennas with 30 dBi gain or higher?

Our rectangular and conical horn antennas are mainly designed and fabricated for low gain, say, 25 dBi or less applications. To minimize the phase error caused by aperture size increasing, the length of the horn must be increased proportionally. It is well known that the sidelobe level of the aperture antenna is mainly caused by the phase error. Theoretically, the sidelobe level reduction can be achieved by increasing the length of the horn. However, there is a practical limitation on the length (size) of the antenna. We chooses to offer 25 dBi gain as maximum gain for simple rectangular and conical horn antennas to compromise the size, performance and cost.

  • Do you offer conical horn antennas in other bands, frequencies, or other applications even though I don't see them online?

Yes! We can offer conical horn antennas for other bands, frequencies, and other applications as needed. Even if the part is not online please click here to contact us for a quote for any conical horn antenna models you may need or email  [email protected].

  • How can I use an this corner reflector for my Radar system calibration?

The corner reflector is a passive device used to reflect radio waves back toward the emission source directly. In the trihedral corner reflector, the waves hitting the corner reflector is bounced by each surface, three times total, resulting in reversed direction waves sending back towards the source.
